Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, as the saying goes, and Ramani Fernando demonstrated to the Grade 11, 12 and13 students and the Teachers of the Collegiate school, just how the beholder could be shown that beauty.

‘Personal Grooming’ was the program organized by the PPA under its ‘Events with school ‘category. The presentation and demonstration was given by no other than RamaniFernando, a leading beautician in Sri Lanka and a distinguished past Bridgetine. . During her presentation, she exhorted the audience to take pains in looking good as, she said, first impressions are ever so important when presenting oneself.  She focussed on the key areas of skin, hair andnail care, personal hygiene, attire, accessories, make-up and posture.   During the demonstration, she showed the skilful art of using the right make up to highlightthe differentassets of each person.   A saree drape demonstration followed, where she expertly draped the saree on a model indicating the different steps for perfect draping. The program was carried out In Association with Ramani Fernando Training Academy.

Ramani, was able to relate to the audience by giving little anecdotes of her own experiences at school. Much to the amusement of the audience, she said that she never participated in many sports, as sunlight was anathema to her.  Using sun block was the answer, but as the students revealed during question time, cosmetics was a banned item at school, and rightly so.Question time followed, ably coordinated by DilaniYatawaka,   and the questions demonstrated the keen interest shown in the program.  As was customary during these programmes, the initial introduction was given by Rev. Sr. Shermila Jayawardena, followed by Dr. NirmalaPieris, President of the PPA, with the presenter being introduced by DilaniYatawaka.

The event was organized to coincide with Teachers and Students Day, on the 4th October 2012.
